Sample essay using the rhetorical argument style.
Writing to convince your readers can sometimes be tricky, especially if you have no guide to reference your article with. The rhetorical argument is one of the methods of argumentation that you can use to prove a claim in your paper. Having said that, let’s take a look at an example of a rhetorical argument essay that uses ethos (appeal to the character of the speaker or subject), pathos (appeal to emotions), and logos (appeal to logic). Let’s use Bitcoin as a sample.
Example of Logos. (Read our article on how to use logos)
”People should use Bitcoin instead of traditional banking for cross-border transactions. This is because the Bitcoin network allows payments and other money transfers across countries to be completed in a couple of minutes instead of days when using banks that rely on clearing houses. People can also initiate Bitcoin transactions anytime, anywhere by simply using their mobile devices at the fraction of the cost of banking fees. Moreover, the Bitcoin network has never had a downtime such as those that involve server maintenance, unlike traditional banks as we know them today.”
Example of Ethos. (Read our article on how to use ethos)
”People should use Bitcoin instead of traditional banking for cross-border transactions. I did and never looked back. For most of my adult life, I have always used banks for international transactions, and they always took too long and were inconvenient. As a businessman, this has always been a problem. But with Bitcoin, cross-border transactions were fast and easy to initiate. This has been beneficial to my business as well as to my personal needs. Others, including non-business people, can also tale advantage of the benefits that Bitcoin has to offer.”
Example of Pathos. (Read our article on how to use pathos)
”People should use Bitcoin instead of traditional banking for cross-border transactions. Imagine the agony of having to wait for days for the funds to be cleared before you can receive and withdraw the money coming from another country. The stress becomes more prominent if the money that you are waiting for is something that you need to pay your bills urgently, or to purchase medications in times of emergency. That is what traditional banking can do to you. Fortunately, Bitcoin helps resolve that issue.”
